Women in Motorsports 2021 Class

Now in our third year of our Women in Motorsports issue, we continue to find amazing women doing amazing things in motorsports, and this might be our best group of women yet.

This year, we feature a bakers dozen – 13 women – who come from all kinds of different backgrounds and do all kinds of different things in this industry. Some have families and multiple jobs, some are just beginning to explore what this industry means to them, while others are at the peaks of their careers.

No matter where they are or what they’re doing, these women are in it for one reason only – motorsport passion.

From the high-performance powerplants propelling Top Fuel dragsters to the subdued engines found in family sedans and grocery getters, each crank must be tailored to, and appropriate for, its specific application.

We know a crankshaft plays a critical role in an engine’s performance, converting reciprocating motion into rotary motion while serving as the backbone of the entire system. It must be strong enough to withstand the continuous pounding of rods and pistons, yet possess enough elasticity to absorb vibrations and flex, albeit slightly, when needed.

A car like this 1966 Corvette featuring an 872 cid Reher Morrison Pro Mod nitrous engine is trying to kill itself every minute it’s running.
